Radio record beckons Gavin

HE’S been on air for over 24 hours and is aiming to be broadcasting for at least another four days – non-stop. Kingdom FM disc jockey, Micky Gavin, is not just trying to raise money for a local charity, but also trying to get himself into the Guinness Book of Records.

Having joined the Fife-based radio station barely a week ago – from Edinburgh-based all-speech outfit, talk107 – Gavin is allowed a five-minute break every hour, as he tries to reach a target of five-and-a-half days non-stop radio broadcasting.

And yesterday, after he kicked off at 6am, the pledges for Kingdom Kids! began pouring in. And fellow DJs at the station have not been made entirely redundant by Gavin’s record-breaking effort; they are providing morale support in the studio, where medical assistance is – sensibly – also to hand.
