Radio station becomes music-free zone

NOTICED something slightly different about BBC Radio Scotland today?

Can’t put your finger on it?

The reason is that, to emphasise the station’s music output, BBC Radio Scotland is today entirely music-free, including all its jingles when teeing up a news bulletin.

Tomorrow is St Cecilia’s Day, celebrating the patron saint of music.

That said, throughout today, there is lots of music-related talking, including a look back at the important events in music history – such as the Sex Pistols being interviewed by Bill Grundy and The Beatles at Shea stadium.
