McClue gone too

IT wasn’t just Susan Morrison who was axed from the presenter line-up of Edinburgh-based talk107 radio station at the end of last week; just a few days after the departure of programme director and presenter, Mike Graham.

Scottie McClue has also gone, which will come as a surprise given he had been presenting both his own, evening show plus the morning berth left vacant by Graham.

In fact, Spike hears that it was during his Friday morning stint that he was informed of his fate, partly to stop him publicising his later show, which, unbeknown to him, was not happening.

24 hours earlier, half a dozen off-air staff had been told they face redundancy, as the station tries to revamp its sound and feel, to become, among other things, more chatty, less confrontational.

Not that McClue gave anything of his fate away on air. And he reportedly left the building soon after signing off by waving to staff and shouting his trademark, ‘Dinky doo.”

As the station pulls together a new presenter line-up, the ‘smart money’ is on Scott Wilson teaming up with Liz Clark at breakfast and the mid-morning berth being taken by Ian Gilmour and Lynne McCrossan.

The 24-hour news and sports bulletins may also be replaced, from 10pm-6am, by content from sister station, talkSPORT.
