BBC Radio Scotland has enjoyed a five per cent year-on-year increase in the number of adults it is reaching, according to the latest listener figures.
Says audit body, RAJAR, the station was, on average, listened to for a minimum five minutes per week – defined as ‘reach’ – by almost a million adults during the final three months of last year.
Compared to the ‘reach’ from the final quarter of the previous year, the Q4 2008 figure was up 5.2 per cent, from 937,000 listeners to 986,000.
Meanwhile, as far as its share of its potential audience, BBC Radio Scotland’s Q4 figure for last year was 9.1 per cent, up 0.6 on the previous quarter and by the same figure on twelve months’ previously.
Said Jeff Zycinski, head of Radio BBC Scotland: “It was an incredibly busy period for news and our journalists kept the audience engaged at every turn of the banking and economic crisis.”
