Deadline reportedly looming for radio top job

THE German media company behind radio stations, Clyde and Forth, is reportedly inviting applications by tomorrow for a newly-created post of managing director of its Scotland Radio division.

Bauer Media owns not just Clyde and Forth, but also West Sound, South WestSound, Borders, NorthSound, MFR and Tay.

Clyde and Forth regional director, Paul Cooney, is said to be the favourite for the job, with Radio Tay’s Ally Ballingal also in the frame.

Says the Sunday Herald: “However, its feared Cooney’s appointment will signal a far greater drive towards centralisation – possibly with fewer regional managers.

“Bauer has already replaced its local evening shows with programmes broadcast from Radio Clyde’s Glasgow HQ.”
