MPs sent recording of Radio Clyde call on expenses

A RECORDING of an extract from a phone call into a programme on Radio Clyde has been sent to politicians throughout the United Kingdom – on the thorny, topical subject of MPs’ expenses.

The extract is from a show hosted between 10am and 2pm by Colin Kelly, who says it proves a commercial radio station like his can be as useful listening for politicians as Good Morning Scotland on BBC Radio Scotland or The Today Programme on BBC Radio 4.

A recording has gone to every MP and MSP.

Says Kelly: “Clyde 1 sticks up for the working man and woman in Glasgow and the West and I’d encourage our elected representatives to take a break from GMS and The Today Programme and tune in to my show where they’ll get straight talking, great music, and should they require it, some help filling out their expenses.”

At least there’s one happy ending. The caller, ‘Wee Gary’, who said he couldn’t afford a pair of working boots, is now having a pair being donated to him by Glasgow ironmongers, Crockett’s… after they heard him on the radio.
