Muslim communities granted temporary radio licences for Ramadan

THE Muslim communities of both Edinburgh and Glasgow are to be served by temporary radio stations that will be broadcasting during the period of Ramadan and Eid – in total, 32 days.

Broadcasting regulator, Ofcom, has awarded a total of 29 temporary radio broadcast licences throughout the UK, which usually operate over a radius of two miles, for the religious observance.

This year, Ramadan begins on August 21.
