By royal appointment: Jubilee1

A SCOTTISH radio station named to mark the 50th anniversary of the Queen’s reign is to receive a royal visitor today.

South Queensferry’s local radio station, Jubilee1, will get the royal seal of approval today as the Duchess of Rothesay joins the production team.

Camilla will be part of the team recording ‘Finnie & Fletch go to the palace’, after she enjoys a tour of Queensferry High School, where the local radio station is based.

Jubilee1 station director, Charles Fletcher, told allmediascotland: “Camilla specifically asked to come and visit us. It’s a great honour and a great opportunity to showcase the talent of the station from all walks of Queensferry.”

Jubilee1 was launched seven years ago as a part-time station and named to mark the Queen’s Golden Jubilee of that year. The station has since been awarded a full-time FM licence by broadcasting regulators, Ofcom, and is currently trying to raise the funding to launch and maintain the FM service.

It has been broadcasting online at www.jubilee1.com since August last year.
