Diamond aces CIPR role in election

A FORMER newspaper reporter with The Sunday Post has been elected chair of the Scottish division of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

Emma Diamond has more than 12 years’ PR consultancy experience and is currently at Smarts in Glasgow. She takes over from Debbie Byers to lead a 13-strong committee and was elected at the CIPR Scotland annual general meeting last week.

Diamond and her committee will be supported by new vice-chair and previous committee member, Laura Campbell, managing director of Aura PR.

CIPR Scotland represents more than 700 members from the public, private and voluntary sectors to freelance consultants and students.

Said Diamond: “The committee’s focus last year was to provide value for money for our members and this remains our commitment for 2010.

“This year we continue to have good representation from a range of specialisms including freelance, agency and public sector and maintain a presence in the north of Scotland, which will help us to respond to the needs of PR professionals and broaden our reach.”
