THE PR agency behind music festivals, T in the Park and Oxegen, has scored a new deal to develop 17 weeks of gigs in Ibiza and Mallorca. Glasgow-based Material will work with the Ibiza Rocks Hotel and Mallorca Rocks Hotel to handle media relations and communications for the hotels-turned-music venues.
The once-per-week gigs are expected to attract around 2000 people, aged 18-24, each Tuesday night. Artist, Plan B, will headline the opening nights on May 31 at Mallorca and June 1 at Ibiza. The campaign will encompass fashion and lifestyle, with more artists and new fashion collaborations and designs to be announced shortly.
The Ibiza Rocks brand has organised outdoor concerts on the island since 2005, with artists such as The Prodigy, Biffy Clyro and Arctic Monkeys. They opened the Ibiza Rocks Hotel three years ago and the Mallorca Rocks Hotel last year.
In a statement issued by Material, it says: “The announcement comes as Material strengthens its music, entertainment and brand PR offering with four new hires: Lisa Faichney joins from LD Communications in London as Material’s new head of PR; Lesley Morton, account director, joins from Stripe Communications as does senior account executive Maria Panayi; while Ashley Stevenson, account executive, joins from The BIG Partnership.”
Material also works with clients like Glasgow: UNESCO City of Music, BAFTA Scotland, Celtic Media Festival and Teenage Cancer Trust.
