Capital challenge issued to secure £1,000 worth of free advertising

THE chance to win £1,000 worth of free advertising is being issued to small businesses in Edinburgh, possibly in collaboration with marketing and advertising expertise donated by friends.

indieAds is a new competition that allows small businesses and perhaps a friendly marketing or advertising professional put together a pitch for free advertising worth a £1,000 on the website of broadcasters, STV.

It is the brainchild, in his spare time, of a communications assistant at the Festival and King’s theatres in the capital.

Sam Goldblatt is also behind a competition to produce a film within 48 hours, now in its sixth year in Edinburgh and fourth year in Glasgow.

Teams entering the indieAds competition will have the opportunity to receive professional marketing advice next month from the director of STV’s TV commercials production department. Stephen O’Donnell, director of STV Creative, is speaking on May 13 at Edinburgh Napier University.

Says Goldblatt: “Teams then have a week to make innovative video, radio, digital and print ads for their chosen business. All ads will be presented before a panel of ad industry experts on May 19 for the chance to win £1,000 worth of free advertising on STV’s popular website, stv.tv.”

The event is being officially launched at a party taking place a week on Tuesday, to which the media is invited to attend.
