Calder calls into question ‘junior’ title

THERE can’t be a journalist better placed to comment on age discrimination at the moment than business writer, Colin Calder.

After all, he has no doubt sweated blood to produce a bunch of article for today’s Scotsman newspaper on the subject.

He writes that business leaders (including media organisations) are being warned that new age discrimination legislation will result in a big increase in number of claims made against employers.

Which is why he wonders why The Orcadian newspaper is currently advertising for a junior news/sports reporter.

Presumably, ‘junior’ has nothing to do with age and everything to do with seniority.
