Vigil being staged for shot Russian journalist

JOURNALISTS and members of the general public wishing to pay their respects to the Russian journalist, Anna Politkovskaya, who was shot dead on Saturday, can do so in Edinburgh in a fortnight’s time.

The Scottish branch of Amnesty International is holding a vigil at 2pm on Tuesday, the 24th of this month, outside the Russian Consulate General at 58 Melville Street, in the capital.

Amnesty International Scotland is proposing to hand in a letter to the Consul-General asking for a thorough investigation into her death.

Anna spoke at the Edinburgh International Book Festival last year, about her work investigating crimes in Chechnya.
