Friday noticeboard: 1576, Dog Digital, etc

A GLASGOW ‘digital communications agency’ is to revamp the website of a major shopping centre in the hope of making it more interactive, especially among local people.

Dog Digital has been appointed to re-design the website of East Kilbride Shopping Centre that helps “forge stronger links with the local community”.

And that’s not the only recent victory for the agency: it beat off pitches from two rivals to be taken on by the Glasgow School of Art to create an email marketing system.

MEANWHILE, Edinburgh-based communications agency, 1576, also had to win through from a three-way pitch to win a commission, this time from capital legal firm, Gillespie Macandrew.

The agency’s challenge is to develop a brand and marketing strategy for the firm, following its recent expansion, most significantly a merger with Hunters, said to be Edinburgh’s fastest-growing solicitor/estate agency, plus a consolidation of the company’s various offices into extensive new premises at Atholl Crescent in Edinburgh.

A SERIES of receptions where business leaders and politicians get to meet and discuss common issues in a relaxed setting, during the run up to the Scottish Parliament elections, is being organised by one of the country’s largest PR firms.

On Wednesday evening, Weber Shandwick is hosting the first of four receptions, ‘Business Meets the Politicians’.

The four receptions are being shared among the four main political parties, Wednesday’s event being given over to the SNP.

Says Weber Shandwick: “An invited audience of MSPs and City of Edinburgh Councillors from across the political parties will attend, along with a wide representation of key decision makers from leading businesses and organisations in Scotland.”

A GRAPHIC design agency is looking to buy a ‘digital communications’ company, in pursuit of widening and expanding its portfolio of work.

As announced via a media release posted by itself on allnewswire, on allmediascotland.com, Nevis Design Consultants say they are on the acquisition trail.

Recent commissions won by Nevis include London members’ club, St James’s, and well-known jewellers, Hamilton & Inches.

Says Nevis: “We have, since inception, been a very strong presence in the traditional graphic design sector, especially around the premium brands market. Digital communications is a fledgling offer for Nevis and the hope is that the purchase and merger of a going concern will allow for the rapid growth of the business.

“The management team at Nevis, working closely with their client base, have already identified a significant digital workflow, even before looking at new business activity.”
