Radio station announces first presenter

A STAR of the BBC Scotland soap, River City, is the first presenter to be announced for a revamped radio station, the former Paisley-based Q96, which is now part of the Real Radio Scotland grouping and has been renamed 96.3 Rock Radio.

Kieron Elliott is already a weekend presenter on Real Radio, and known for a love of sky diving.

96.3 Rock Radio is to specialise in ‘classic rock’ and Elliott is to be its breakfast show host when it launches on January 8.

Elliott’s CV includes hosting ITV’s ‘Wish You Were Here’ and presenting on Five’s ‘Night Fever’.

Q96 was bought by Real Radio owners, GMG Radio, in June.

Says 96.3 Rock Radio’s programme director, Jay Crawford: “Yes, Kieron is a real all-rounder but he seems to excel at everything he turns his hand to. I have no doubt that he is the perfect man for the job. Over the next few weeks, we hope to announce other key presenters who will join Kieron on the weekday schedule.”
