Morrison joins mobile content company

A FORMER series producer at Scottish Media Group and the person credited with the world’s first made-for-mobile-telephone video drama has been appointed managing editor of a Glasgow-based company specialising in content for mobiles.

Beverley Morrison has joined mixipix. Two years ago, while at SMG, she produced a ten-part supernatural thriller, ‘CJAQ’, for viewing specifically on a mobile telephone.

Says Morrison: “With more people than ever owning 3G and video-enabled phones, the broadcast industry is really waking up to the opportunities offered by this platform. Mixipix is already ahead of the game with its world-class content production, management and delivery platform.

“Now we are developing a number of exciting interactive mobile video projects which we expect to launch in the New Year. Each project is highly innovative but features brands and on-screen talent familiar to the UK audiences.”

She added: “We are also talking to TV production companies about how our unique solutions can help them reach the mobile video audience. We already offer user-generated animation tools to clients and are looking at user-generated content and video.”

Mixipix offers visitors to its website the chance to download cartoons to their mobile.

CJAQ was a co-production between Morrison’s own company, Cool Crew Media, and SMG, for international handset manufacturer, imate.
