Marcomms body has post-election presentation in its sights

WHOEVER wins the next Scottish Parliament elections can expect to be targeted by the country’s advertising and marketing agencies, in a concerted attempt to secure government support to grow the industry in Scotland.

At the latest meeting of a new representative body, it was reported there would be little point in making approaches to the Scottish Parliament until the elections to it, in May, are completed, but that, once completed, a set of clear plans should be presented, including an appeal to government to assist in bridging what the industry believes is a “massive skills gap”.

Another key message of the Scottish Marketing Communicatrions Group is that the estimated 40,000 people who currently work in advertising and marketing in Scotland should be cultivated to reach nearer 50,000.
