Premiere hoping to be platform for worldwide screenings

A PLAN to ‘take the Edinburgh Military Tattoo around the world’ is to be unveiled on Monday, courtesy of a High Definition TV recording of this summer’s event.

An one-and-a-half hour version of the Tattoo has been put together by, among others, a former technical operations manager at BBC Scotland’s former HQ in the capital’s Queen Street.

What Alan Downie, of TheatreHD, and his colleague, Nigel Shepherd, of PlaybackHD, who produced the programme, are hoping to do is secure sufficient sponsorship to screen their edit around the world, with Burns and Caledonian clubs the principal target.

A premiere of the edit is taking place on Monday afternoon, to an audience of invited guests, including tourism organisation, VisitScotland.

The hope is that the combination of High Definition and multi-channel sound will make the audience feel they are almost at the Tattoo for real.
