Lang sides with Gaelic service

A SECONDEE from the Scottish Parliament is the new corporate affairs manager for the organisation tasked to develop Gaelic language TV programming and to help set up a dedicated digital TV channel for Gaelic programmes.

Yesterday, Alison Lang began her nine-month secondment following the announcement, on Friday, of her appointment at the publicy-funded Gaelic Media Service.

At the Scottish Parliament, she works as an official reporter. She has also freelanced for The Scotsman.

Announcing the appointment, Gaelic Media Service chief executive, Donald Campbell, said: “I am extremely pleased to have Alison join our workforce at such an important time and I thank the Parliament for releasing her for this secondment.

“Alison has many skills and a good understanding and knowledge of media, politics and especially Gaelic language and the Gaelic world. We look forward to working with Alison in the coming months where we face many opportunities and challenges whilst we prepare for the launch of the Gaelic digital service.”
