Unpaid overtime said to be commonplace among journalists

MORE than a third of journalists are said to be working in excess of five hours unpaid overtime every week according to the results of a survey conducted by the National Union of Journalists.

Among the results of the survey, 80 per cent of respondents said they worked unpaid overtime, while 36 per cent work more than five hours unpaid overtime each week

The survey was conducted as part of the NUJ’s contribution to ‘Work Your Proper Hours Day’, an event organised on Friday by the Trades Union Congress.
