Gibson ticks the boxes to get Xfm role

A SCOTS radio station with a growing reputation for promoting new music has appointed a new managing director.

Alan Gibson has joined Xfm Scotland after ten years at Scottish Media Group.

Say owners, GCap Media: “The appointment is a strategically important addition to the management team at the station as Gibson brings with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record in the Scottish media industry.”

Added Nick Davidson, managing director of the Xfm Network: “Alan’s commercial background with SMG and his in depth experience of the media market in Scotland make him the ideal person for the role. Alan’s leadership and vision matches that of GCap’s for this important market and for Xfm Scotland’s own ambitions, namely to be the number one destination for new music.”

He continued: “2007 already bears the hallmarks of being an important year, with significant breakthroughs in content and high profile partnerships across the Xfm network and I’m very happy we have the best team in place to achieve our ambitions.”

Alan Gibson has over 20 years’ experience working in the media industry and arrives from SMG where he was sales and marketing director, responsible for SMG’s TV sales operation.

He said: “Xfm Scotland is such a tremendous brand – at the forefront of the music scene in Scotland. We have fantastic presenters, great music and impactful commercial opportunities for the business community in Scotland both on air and on-line.

“Radio is the perfect platform to capitalise on the current resurgence that live music is undergoing and I am looking forward to working with everyone at Xfm to continue to build on the success of the station in Scotland.”
