First-ever Gaelic movie to receive UK premiere in Portree

THE Isle of Skye ‘capital’ of Portree is to later this month play host to the UK premiere of the first-ever Gaelic-language feature film.

‘Seachd – The Inaccessible Pinnacle’ tells the story of a young boy in Skye living with his grandfather in the shadow of a mountain that claimed the lives of his parents.

Produced by locally-based Young Films, with support from Scottish Screen, the UK premiere is set for a week on Wednesday, as part of the Celtic Media Festival (formerly known as the Celtic Film and TV Festival), which is this year taking place on Skye.

A UK-wide release is planned for the movie later this year.

A press screenings is, however, set for Glasgow on Thursday.
