Withdrawal for shortlisted press awards entry

THE Daily Record’s nominations lead at this year’s Scottish Press Awards has been cut by one.

Excluding the Gaelic Journalist of the Year category, the original shortlist – announced a fortnight ago – saw the Daily Record pick up 13 nominations, The Herald 11, and the Sunday Herald nine.

But it has since come to light that one of the entries shortlisted, in the Financial/Business Writer of the Year category, was published outwith the allocated timeframe.

The piece had been published on December 6 two years ago, when Rule One of the competition states that entries must contain work published between January 1 and December 31 last year.

When the error was realised, the entry was immediately withdrawn.

The awards ceremony takes place on the 19th of next month.
