THE Scottish director of the stunning, award-winning movie, The Last King of Scotland, is reported to have been lined up to direct a feature film version of a British TV drama about a politician and a newspaper reporter, State of Play.
According to movie newspaper, Variety, Kevin Macdonald has been signed to direct the movie version of Paul Abbott’s political thriller for the BBC – which coincidentally starred Scots actor, James McAvoy, who co-starred in The Last King of Scotland, which won a Best Actor Oscar earlier this year for Forest Whitaker.
It’s understood the movie version of State of Play is due to begin production in November, with Abbott executive producing.
The movie plot is said to be about the death of a congressman’s mistress, and a team of investigative reporters secretly work with a police detective to solve the murder. Pitt will play a reporter who was once close to the congressman but now heads an investigation that leads to the highest levels of government and industry.
It’s also reported that UK production company, Working Title, will produce the film.
