THE director and producer of the movie version of Douglas Adams’ cult novel and radio series, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, are tomorrow joining some 400 Scottish students involved in screen industries, such as filmmaking.
Garth Jennings and Nick Goldsmith are guesting at a filmmaking masterclass at this year’s Scottish Students on Screen, now in its eighth year, and taking place at Glasgow’s Centre for Contemporary Arts.
On offer throughout the day-long event are seminars, careers advice and technology demonstrations.
They will be joined by TV presenter, Doug Anderson, who will be announcing the winners of this year’s Scottish Students on Screen awards, across eight screen categories.
The event – being organised for the first time by BAFTA Scotland – is being financially supported by former organisers, Scottish Screen.
Says Alison Forsyth, director of BAFTA Scotland: “This exciting event marks an important increase in activities for BAFTA Scotland. We have always taken a great interest in promoting the work of Scotland’s young and new talent, but this event will really offer Scotland’s young screen students a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and have a brilliant day out at the same time.”
