News restructuring results in new post being advertised

COMMERCIAL TV station, stv, is advertising for an editor of news programming at its Aberdeen base, as part of a restructuring taking place throughout its Scotland-wide news operation.

Last month, Gordon Macmillan, was appointed head of news across stv’s two regional news programmes, Scotland Today, and North Tonight. He had previously been responsible only for the Central Belt, Scotland Today, offering.

Already in post as editor of news programmes, for stv central, is Howard Simpson.

Recently, stv’s Aberdeen newsroom has lost a couple of high-profile names, including news editor, Craig Wilson – previously, Macmillan’s north of Scotland counterpart – and reporter, Jill Mowat.

Wilson has joined newsroom technicals people, Avid, while Mowat has been appointed a senior broadcast journalist with BBC Scotland.
