Boag on the Tyne All Fine, All Fine

A former head of news at Saga Radio and, before that, a sports editor at BBC Scotland, has been appointed head of news and sport at a radio station in Newcastle.

Gordon Boag, who was made redundant at Saga following the station’s take-over and re-branding to Smooth Radio by Guardian Media Group (GMG), has been appointed at Metro

He takes up his post on Tuesday at the EMAP-owned station, one of the first independent local radio stations to be set up, following Capital Radio and Radio Clyde in the early 1970s.

His office, in one of the city’s most distinctive buildings overlooking city’s the River Tyne, looks directly over to Gateshead-based rivals, Century FM, recently sold by GCap to….er, GMG.
