Media relations secrets to be revealed to Scottish voluntary sector

REPRESENTATIVES of over 100 Scottish voluntary organisations are today being given an insight into how the media operates, what makes a story and how best to convey that story to journalists.

BBC Scotland’s social affairs correspondent, Reevel Alderson, and The Herald’s deputy editor, Janette Harkess, are speaking at The Gathering, run by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations, taking place in place in Glasgow, and expected to 9,000 people over its three-day duration. It began yesterday and is partly a trade show for the voluntary sector.

Alderson and Harkess are to be joined by John MacGill, a former editor of BBC Radio Scotland’s Good Morning Scotland and now a PR and public affairs consultant, plus Aimara Request, who produces campaigning videos for uploading on to the internet and also available to TV broadcasters.
