Web proving a page-turner for Nicol

A FORMER Evening Times associate editor who previously concentrated on PR and print publications has, he says, “finally succumbed to the electronic world”.

Alistair Nicol’s Ayr-based agency has recently rebranded with the launch of a new nicolmedia.co.uk website where he explains how he was finally converted to the advantages of electronic publications after 35 years as a champion of print.

He said: “As the market for on-screen brochures and newsletters has grown, I realised that the pdfs of most newsletters and brochures produced for print failed to reproduce well when downloaded to read on a computer.

“A standard A4 portrait publication is simply useless for reading on a landscape screen.”

Nicol’s answer – as adopted by client, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde – is an interactive landscape format which opens in full screen, allows the reader to click from page to page, and incorporates direct internet links to any website.

Nicol said: “Since the new format was introduced – including there has been a large increase in the number of people downloading Health News from their website and a very positive response to its design and readability.”

Nicol added: “The publication can also be printed in the landscape format.”

Before moving into the PR and design business six years ago, Nicol was chief assistant editor of the Evening Times.
