Merger director being sought by screen and arts board

A COMMITTEE set up to pave the way for a proposed merger of Scottish Screen and the Scottish Arts Council is next week to advertise for a ‘transition director’, to help make the merger actually happen.

Spike has learned that adverts for the post are to appear in the Scottish press next week, on behalf of the interim board who are preparing the launch of Creative Scotland.

Last week, Creative Scotland took a step closer to becoming a reality when First Minister, Alex Salmond, unveiled plans for a Culture Bill which would lead to Creative Scotland being established. The interim board is chaired by Richard Holloway.

A spokesperson for the board said: “The joint board of the Scottish Arts Council and Scottish Screen will be shortly advertising for an one year, fixed term post of Transition Director. The appointment process will be open and transparent with the intention of securing the best possible expertise, to support the board in their progress towards the new cultural development body, Creative Scotland.”
