McGurk appointed PR adviser

A FORMER editor of The Scotsman has been appointed adviser to a public relations agency.

John McGurk is joining Edinburgh-based Indigo, and, says the company, will “bring substantial media expertise to Indigo’s staff development and a fresh perspective to the company’s pitching process while also acting as an ambassador”.

McGurk has also been editor of sister titles, the Edinburgh Evening News and Scotland on Sunday.

More recently, he was group managing editor of The Daily and Sunday Telegraphs. He was with The Scotsman Publications for eleven years.

Adds Indigo: “This exclusive relationship will add to a portfolio of other business consultancies he is currently pursuing.”

Joining McGurk as an adviser is Gordon Arthur, interim chief executive of Scottish Financial Enterprise and former director of Corporate Affairs at Standard Life, who now runs his own strategic communications business, Roundtable Consultants.

He will work with Indigo on joint ventures and will act in a business development capacity.

Indigo’s founder is Jacqui Low is a former special adviser for former Secretary of State for Scotland, Michael Forsyth.

In March, Indigo opened a public affairs division whose impact is likely to result in an increase of over 40 per cent in the firm’s turnover this year. In January, the company will celebrate its tenth
birthday.
