The entertainment supplement that comes with the Thursday edition of The Herald is to be axed in three weeks’ time.
allmediascotland.com understands staff working on Going Out were informed of the decision on Monday, with editor, Isobel Palmer, said to have been told as she was preparing, at the weekend, to go on holiday to Australia.
It is understood Palmer’s job is not at risk, not least because, from the sixth of next month, much of Going Out will be incorporated into the main paper, including Alison Rowat’s film reviews and Scotland-wide cinema listings.
The main difference for readers will be that the general What’s On listings guide will transfer to The Herald online, where it will be extended, and made more user-friendly, interactive and searchable. Readers, for instance, will be able to post their own reviews, online.
