Ross headed for Hollywood hoping for film deal

A GLASWEGIAN stand-up comedian leaves on Thursday for Los Angeles to meet with potential backers of his first feature film script.

Charlie Ross has already played host, in Glasgow, to a couple of Hollywood executives, as he strives to ensure that, should the movie come off, it will be made, and set, in the city.

He told allmediascotland.com: “A couple of film companies in Los Angeles have picked up on it, and are also very enthusiastic that it is set in Glasgow.”

He added: “I want to make a film that makes Glasgow look like the way Woody Allen makes Manhattan look, that parallel universe he creates around a group of people.”

Ross describes ‘The Adventures of Danny Halfpenny’ as a “romantic comedy, a kind of Alfie-meets-Shirley-Valentine”, adding: “We are at the legal and money stage of the discussions.”
