Jelly bean day underlines Greenock Telegraph’s commitment to fun

TODAY is apparently ‘National Jelly Bean Day’ and the newly-appointed editor of the Greenock Telegraph has chosen to celebrate it, as part of an overall campaign to inject more fun into the paper.

Wendy Metcalfe – who was previously at the Evening Express, in Aberdeen, as assistant editor, and, before that, on the Daily Record newsdesk – is promoting more positive reporting in the paper.

Metcalfe succeeds Anne Caine, who is off on maternity leave and will be returning to publishers, Clyde and Forth Press, in a different senior role.

It’s understood Metcalfe’s aim is for the paper to be the platform for celebrating why Inverclyde is a great place to live and to promote the area to the rest of Scotland.
