The Herald newspaper has won a prize for the most outstanding use of colour in awards celebrating the production of newspapers.
The Herald’s triumph was in the 2008 Newspaper Awards, run by Production Journal, which also saw Scotland on Sunday’s Spectrum magazine lift a highly commended in the Regional Colour Supplement of the Year section.
Also among the Scottish entries, Aberdeen regional daily, the Press and Journal, was commended in the Regional Newspaper of the Year (weekdays) section.
Among the other winners, Your Mail, a website for user-generated content, launched by the Hull Daily Mail, was named top in the Best Use of New Media category.
The Birmingham Post was named Regional Newspaper of the Year, with MK News scooping the title for weeklies.
Hull Daily Mail assistant editor Alex Leys, who belongs to north-east Scotland, has led the Your Mail project, which launched less than three months ago.
