Hutcheon to take on new role

THE multi award-winning Scottish political editor of the Sunday Herald is taking on a new role at the paper, with his replacement being his counterpart at the Sunday Times Scotland.

Paul Hutcheon, crowned ‘Journalist of the year’ at the Scottish Press Awards in April, is understood to be taking on a more investigative role at the paper.

It is also understood that, in the wake of his awards victory – the second time he had been chosen as ‘Journalist of the year’ – he had been approached by a rival Scottish title to join them.

Taking his place is Tom Gordon, who will starting work at the Sunday Herald in October.

And investigations writer at the Sunday Herald, Neil Mackay, is believed to be moving to a new role on the news desk to help drive the paper’s news operation in print and online.
