Filmmakers invited to apply for international finance training

DOCUMENTARY filmmakers are being offered the chance of training in Edinburgh on how to access international finance.

It follows a tie-up between the Scottish Documentary Institute, based in the capital, and film finance consultancy, Initialize Films, which has created the training programme and first ran it two years ago, in London.

The programme is aimed at producers who have some experience of UK documentary production, be it a UK television broadcast or festival screening, and who now want to engage with the international market.

Scottish Documentary Institute – founded four years ago – describes itself as “an internationally recognised documentary research centre, specialising in documentary training, production and distribution. Its aim is to stimulate and inspire the documentary scene in Scotland and beyond through focus on creative excellence and unashamed international outlook”.

The training takes place over two, four-day modules during September and October, mixing workshops, seminars and one-to-one coaching. There is space for a dozen documentary producers to take part.

Initialize is based in London and Berlin.

The deadline for applications is August 1.
