THE state-of-the-art technology at BBC Scotland’s HQ in Glasgow has been playing up again.
Yesterday evening, the extended in-studio chat and reading from sheets of paper was a bit of a giveaway that not all was well with the technology involved in putting together the flagship news programme, Reporting Scotland.
That only a few viewers will have noticed is testament to the professionalism of presenter, Sally Magnusson, and the production team.
allmediascotland understands that ‘when the system goes down’ at Pacific Quay, not only are the computers affected, and other bits of hi-tech kit, but so too the telephones and even the operation of the blinds.
There was, for instance, no coverage last night of the forthcoming Glenrothes by-election, such as the visit of Lib Dem leader, Nick Clegg – featured in rival news programme, Scotland Today.
And as The Scotsman reported the other day, a similar breakdown deprived listeners of BBC Radio Scotland’s, Scotland Live, at the start of the week… around about the same time – as Spike can reveal – representatives of the European Broadcasting Union were touring the building to cast an eye over the ‘state-of-the-art technology’.
