A FORMER business editor at the Edinburgh Evening News is said to be considering “various options”, having been paid off by the PR agency he had joined earlier this year.
Jim Stanton joined Beattie Communications in April, working mainly from the company’s Edinburgh office as an account director. He had previously been business editor at the Evening News for two years and deputy editor for four years before that.
It is not known why he was let go.
A spokesperson for Beattie Communications said: “We can confirm Jim Stanton has left the company. We have no plans for redundancies or office closure. As you are aware, we have won substantial amounts of new business including the easyJet account.”
Stanton told allmediascotland.com he had no definite plans for the future. “I am looking at various options. It has only just happened, so it’s still early days.”
Meanwhile, also headed for pastures new is the Scottish Liberal Democrats’ chief press officer. Neil Mackinnon is the longest-serving press officer among Scotland’s main political parties, having been appointed at the time of the Scottish Parliament’s founding nine years ago.
Before that, he worked in various marketing and communications roles in the financial services sector.
He told allmediascotland.com: “I decided a few months ago that the time was right to move on and plan on taking a break before I start looking for new challenges after Christmas.”
