Over the next few weeks, is to publish, each weekday, edited extracts from the memoirs of Scottish war correspondent, Paul Harris. ‘More thrills than skills: A half-life in journalism’, is being scheduled for publication next year.

MONDAY was a Poya Day holiday and I decided to go to the Foreign Ministry, first thing, the following morning with the letter for hand delivery.

I was asked not to say anything in public again, just to write. I was also told my conduct could be construed as being prejudicial to national security.

At first, I thought it simply pomposity.

Later, I would realise that the seeds were already sown.
