Revamp unveiled by STV

A PROMISE that STV is planning to opt out of the ITV network more often, the freed-up space to be devoted to more locally-produced programming, was underlined yesterday as the station announced a revamp.

Signalled by the unveiling of a new logo, STV also said the early evening news programmes serving its two franchises – STV north (North Tonight) and STV central (Scotland Today) – are to be renamed ‘STV News at Six’.

The new logo will hit TV screens on Monday and was designed by BDA – Bruce Dunlop Associates.

Recent use of ‘stv’ has also been replaced by ‘STV’.

Says STV: “[We plan] to opt out of the ITV network more frequently, taking control of its schedule and introducing more Scottish-produced programmes and acquired series that will hold wide appeal across the country.

“As Scotland’s most popular peak time TV station, STV’s fresh new look is all part of its drive to build a more relevant, compelling and diverse schedule, whilst supporting and building the creative industry in Scotland.”
