A RADIO licence for Edinburgh and the Lothians vacated just before Christmas is to be taken up by a trial broadcast for a music radio station.
A 107FM frequency that had been used by all-speech radio station, talk107, until Christmas Eve has been awarded for a little less than a month to Celador Radio Broadcasting.
In the same vein as Celador-owned Coast operation in the south of England, The Coast 107 for Edinburgh will target over 40 year-olds, with a ‘more tracks, less chat’ ethos.
Celador helped produce the multi-Oscar-winning film, Slumdog Millionaire.
The trial launches on the 23rd of next month and will operate on a Restricted Service Licence, awarded by broadcasting regulators, Ofcom, until Friday, June 19.
Says the company: “The station is a taste of what Celador would like to provide if granted a permanent licence. We will be gathering feedback from the people of Edinburgh throughout the month-long broadcast.”
