List magazine launches Scottish larder book

THE Edinburgh-Glasgow events magazine, The List, has branched into book publishing, with The Larder, about Scotland’s food and drink.

Recently only availabe with the magazine, but now on general release, the 160-page, full colour book contains features on the country’s farmers, crofters, fishermen, cheesemakers, bakers, gardeners, brewers and distillers.

Says the magazine: “The coverage is extensive, ranging from apples to whisky, traditional recipes to modern innovations, Shetland salmon to Dumfries & Galloway ice-cream.

“Also included are details of 250 of the best places to buy local food – from delis and good butchers to fishmongers and farm shops.

“There’s a useful directory of over 100 restaurants around Scotland where you’ll find local produce being used, information on Scotland’s cook schools, guide to Scottish cookery books, a local seasonality guide and a calendar listing all the farmers’ markets taking place in Scotland.”

It has been edited by Donald Reid, food and drink editor at The List.
