Record publishers announce ad revenue drop of over 30 per cent

AHEADĀ of its annual general meeting today, in London, the publishers of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail newspapers have announced a 30 per cent drop in advertising revenue during the first four months of this year – contributing towards an overall drop in revenue of 18 per cent.

Says Trinity Mirror, the ad revenue picture is even bleaker among its regional titles: a drop of 36 per cent.

For its national titles – including the Daily Record and Sunday Mail – that means a less depressing 17 per cent drop.

In its interim management statement, the company goes on to say that group circulation revenues for the period have fallen by four per cent – comprising a fall of eight among regional titles and three per cent among its national ones.
