Ofcom chief and critic to face each other at TV festival

A CRITIC of the broadcasting regulators, Ofcom, is coming face-to-face with its chief executive in a set-piece interview taking place at this year’s MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival.

The festival – taking place between August 28-30 – sees Ed Richards being interviewed by ITV’s director of Television, Peter Fincham, who last year – during his keynote, MacTaggart Lecture – criticised Ofcom for being out of touch with viewers and argued that over-regulation could ‘kill television’.
