BBC Scotland commissions STV for first time, to make antiques series

TWENTY, half-hour programmes have been commissioned from STV, from across the road from its headquarters, by BBC Scotland.

The programmes, for daytime transmission on BBC Two, will be made by STV’s production arm, STV Productions.

It comes hard on the heels of an outline agreement to share resources – such as facilities and training – and last week’s government report into Britain’s digital future – the Carter Report – that recommended STV Productions be categorised as an ‘independent TV production company’, thus making it eligible to be commissioned under ‘indie’ quotas operating at the likes of the BBC.

It is the first commission of STV by the BBC.

Antiques Road Trip will pair eight of Britain’s ‘best loved antiques experts’ and sends them on a road trip across the UK in a selection of beautiful classic cars.

They’ll compete with each other to make the most money buying and selling antiques.
