Scottish football mag soon launching

A NEW magazine is soon being lauched in Scotland, devoted to Scottish football.

‘Eleven’ aims to report all levels of the game in this country, including the national men’s team, the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League, all the way to Highland League and East of Scotland leagues and women’s football.

Priced £2.75 and available from October, it will be on sale in newsagents and promises – for its launch issue – news from each of the 42 SPL and SFL clubs, plus a report from the Major League Soccer scene in the USA.

Says editor, Alex Schweitzer-Thompson: “It’s all about bringing the clubs closer to fans of Scottish football. With the team of writers we have, fans will get the best coverage on the broadest range of levels of the game in the country.

“Supporters of football, especially those of the smaller teams, may find it difficult to engage with individuals at their club or stay informed about other teams in their league and Eleven will hopefully be able to satisfy that need.”

Schweitzer-Thompson is a freelance football reporter for the Edinburgh Evening News, and formerly a news reporter at DC Thomson’s Courier and Evening Telegraph newspapers.

He is also a former editor of the community newspaper, the South Edinburgh Echo.

The magazine’s publishing company, Matchday Media Scotland, also produces the matchday programmes of Elgin City and Newtongrange Star.

There have been numerous previous attempts to produce a magazine devoted to Scottish football, including The Punter and Scottish Football Today.

Eleven’s official launch date is October 29.
