Wishart stepping down from Evening Telegraph editorship

THE evening newspaper serving Dundee, the Evening Telegraph, is looking for a new editor following the announcement that the current incumbent is to retire – after four years in the post and 43 years with publishers, DC Thomson.

No date has yet been set for Gordon Wishart’s departure, but the vacancy is already being advertised.

During Wishart’s spell in charge, the Evening Telegraph has bucked the downward sales trend among newspapers, in general, and Scottish regional ones, in particular.

Says one colleague of Wishart’s achievements: “He’s Dundee born, bred and educated and knows his readership intimately. It’s a city newspaper edited by a city man.”
