Go-ahead given to radio stations operating out of same location

THE owners of Real Radio Scotland have been given permission by broadcasting regulators, Ofcom, to operate a radio station it has recently bought from outwith its broadcasting area.

Real Radio Scotland owners, Guardian Media Group (GMG), bought Q96 in June, but required permission from Ofcom to have it operate from its east end of Glasgow headquarters instead of Paisley, which is where Q96 broadcasts to.

In return for the permission, GMG agreed to an increase in the amount of local news on Q96, with “significant further investment in marketing to come”.
