Scotsman Owners Suffer Slight Profits Drop

The Scotsman newspaper, plus Scotland on Sunday and the Edinburgh Evening News, are not providing its owners quite the level of profit it is used to, but – according to latest financial results – a very healthy return, nevertheless.
Says Johnston Press, in its half-year interim results, a 23.9 per cent profit has been delivered by its new titles acquired since July last year (Scotsman Publications being its only ones – bought at the beginning of the year), as opposed to an average 35 per cent for the group as a whole.
Despite continuing concern about advertising revenue, the company’s pre-tax profit for the six months to June 30 was
